Zniszczeniu uleg\u0142y nie tylko pomieszczenia zajmowane przez geografi\u0119 przed wojn\u0105, ale tak\u017ce meble i instrumenty badawcze. Rozproszony i w cz\u0119\u015bci zniszczony zosta\u0142 r\u00f3wnie\u017c ksi\u0119gozbi\u00f3r. Kierownik Zak\u0142adu Geograficznego prof. Stanis\u0142aw Lencewicz zgin\u0105\u0142 w Warszawie w 1944 roku, a kierownik<br \/> Zak\u0142adu Antropogeografii prof. Bogdan Zaborski po wojnie pozosta\u0142 za granic\u0105 i przys\u0142u\u017cy\u0142 si\u0119 do rozwoju geografii kanadyjskiej. W tej sytuacji uruchomienie zak\u0142ad\u00f3w geograficznych po wojnie trudno uzna\u0107 tylko za kontynuacj\u0119 wcze\u015bniejszej dzia\u0142alno\u015bci. Mia\u0142o ono wyra\u017anie charakter \u201edrugiego pocz\u0105tku\u201d. W artykule przedstawiono wybrane zagadnienia zwi\u0105zane z reaktywacj\u0105 obu zak\u0142ad\u00f3w, utworzeniem Instytutu Geograficznego Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego i pocz\u0105tkami jego dzia\u0142alno\u015bci po wojnie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>S\u0142owa kluczowe: <\/strong>geografia, Uniwersytet Warszawski, okres powojenny<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Abstract:<\/strong> The successful development of geography at the University of Warsaw was interrupted by World War II and the Nazi occupation. Not only the rooms occupied by geography before the war but also furniture and research instruments were destroyed. The book collection was dispersed and partly destroyed. Head of the Geographical Department prof. Stanis\u0142aw Lencewicz was killed in Warsaw in 1944, and the head of the<br \/> Department of Anthropogeography prof. Bogdan Zaborski remained abroad after the war and contributed to the development of Canadian geography. In this situation, the re-launch of geography after the war can hardly be regarded as a continuation of previous activities. It clearly had the character of a \u201csecond beginning\u201d.
