The new method is based on behavioural mapping, which was tested in selected Warsaw suburbs. The study proved that the potential of suburbs in stimulating local social life, measured by the utility value of recreational spaces, is generally low. The research confirmed the role of location in creating community-friendly public spaces and a greater distance in interpersonal relationships among suburbanites than city inhabitants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key words:<\/strong> public space, utility value of space, suburbs, behavioural mapping<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Zarys tre\u015bci:<\/strong> Celem artyku\u0142u jest identyfikacja podmiejskich przestrzeni rekreacyjnych o najwy\u017cszej warto\u015bci u\u017cytkowej poprzez zastosowanie nowego narz\u0119dzia i metody pomiaru \u017cywotno\u015bci przestrzeni, kt\u00f3ra jest wyznacznikiem tzw. dobrej przestrzeni publicznej. Nowa metoda oparta jest na mapowaniu behawioralnym, kt\u00f3re zosta\u0142o przetestowane w wybranych suburbiach Warszawy. Badanie wykaza\u0142o, \u017ce potencja\u0142 przedmie\u015b\u0107 w stymulowaniu lokalnego \u017cycia spo\u0142ecznego, mierzony warto\u015bci\u0105 u\u017cytkow\u0105 przestrzeni rekreacyjnych, jest og\u00f3lnie niski. Potwierdzi\u0142a si\u0119 rola lokalizacji w tworzeniu pro-spo\u0142ecznych przestrzeni publicznych i wi\u0119kszy dystans w relacjach mi\u0119dzyludzkich w\u015br\u00f3d mieszka\u0144c\u00f3w
