Sustainable development now becomes zeitgeist of our age. From one hand, it is a way to define the goals which a good society should achieve to ensure better quality of life for all inhabitants of the planet, both for the present generation and for future generations. From the other hand, sustainable development is a way to understand the world as a complex interaction within and between economic, social, environmental subsystems. This article aims to measure the intra-subsystem and inter-subsystem relationship in sustainable development which can be used to reflect the level of equilibrium by analyzing the statistical relationships within and between the three main subsystems of sustainability (economic, social and environmental). All of the analysis use the complete raw data set provided for 24 indicators for the year 2016 of 63 administrative units of Vietnam. The results show that there is an aver-age relationship within each subsystem of sustainable development in Vietnam expressed by the latent dimen-sions extracted in the procedure of principal component analysis. There is also an average relationship between subsystems of sustainable development in Vietnam measured by the level of mutual explanation of original set of variables of each subsystem in the procedure of canonical correlation (canonical redundancy).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key words:<\/strong> Sustainable development, intra-subsystem relationship, inter-subsystem relationship, principal component analysis, canonical analysis, Vietnam<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Zarys tre\u015bci:<\/strong> Zr\u00f3wnowa\u017cony rozw\u00f3j mo\u017cna postrzega\u0107 jako rozw\u00f3j, kt\u00f3ry gwarantuje r\u00f3wnowag\u0119 pomi\u0119dzy rozwojem gospodarczym, dobrostanem spo\u0142ecznym i komponentem \u015brodowiskowym, s\u0142u\u017c\u0105c\u0105 zaspokajaniu potrzeb obecnych pokole\u0144 bez uszczerbku dla mo\u017cliwo\u015bci zaspokajania potrzeb przysz\u0142ych pokole\u0144. Zr\u00f3wnowa\u017cony rozw\u00f3j reprezentuje ducha naszych czas\u00f3w. Z jednej strony jest sposobem na okre\u015blenie cel\u00f3w, kt\u00f3re wsp\u00f3\u0142czesne spo\u0142ecze\u0144stwo powinno osi\u0105gn\u0105\u0107, aby zapewni\u0107 lepsz\u0105 jako\u015b\u0107 \u017cycia wszystkim mieszka\u0144com planety, zar\u00f3wno obecnym, jak i przysz\u0142ym pokoleniom. Z drugiej strony, zr\u00f3wnowa\u017cony rozw\u00f3j pomaga zrozumie\u0107 \u015bwiat jako z\u0142o\u017cone relacje wewn\u0105trz i pomi\u0119dzy podsystemami: gospodarczym, spo\u0142ecznym i \u015brodowiskowym. Celem artyku\u0142u jest pomiar powi\u0105za\u0144 wewn\u0105trz i pomi\u0119dzy komponentami zr\u00f3wnowa\u017conego rozwoju, kt\u00f3ry pozwoli okre\u015bli\u0107 poziom r\u00f3wnowagi dzi\u0119ki analizom zale\u017cno\u015bci statystycznych wewn\u0105trz trzech g\u0142\u00f3wnych wymiar\u00f3w zr\u00f3wnowa\u017conego rozwoju (ekonomicznego, spo\u0142ecznego i \u015brodowiskowego) oraz pomi\u0119dzy nimi. We wszystkich analizach wykorzystano kompletny zestaw dost\u0119pnych danych nieprzetworzonych dla 24 wska\u017anik\u00f3w, obrazuj\u0105cych sytuacj\u0119 63 jednostek administracyjnych Wietnamu w roku 2016. Wyniki dowodz\u0105, \u017ce w Wietnamie istnieje umiarkowana zale\u017cno\u015b\u0107 w ramach ka\u017cdego podsystemu zr\u00f3wnowa\u017conego rozwoju, kt\u00f3r\u0105 wyra\u017caj\u0105 ukryte zmienne, wyodr\u0119bnione w analizie sk\u0142adowych g\u0142\u00f3wnych, a tak\u017ce umiarkowana zale\u017cno\u015b\u0107 pomi\u0119dzy podsystemami zr\u00f3wnowa\u017conego rozwoju, mierzona poziomem wzajemnego powi\u0105zania zestawu zmiennych odnosz\u0105cych si\u0119 do ka\u017cdego podsystemu, zidentyfikowana w procedurze korelacji kanonicznej (redundancja
