The article describes the main directions of land cover changes in the vicinity of Pi\u0144cz\u00f3w in the years 1839\u20132000. The identified land use patterns were shown and discussed against the background of natural landscape characteristics, and anthropogenic influences associated with socio-political and economic situation of the region in the analyzed period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Key words: <\/strong>Nida Basin, Pi\u0144cz\u00f3w, land cover pattern, landscape metrics, historical analysis, natural landscape
