The considerations contained in the text concern a case study \u2013 Vienna, called \u201cthe king of urban viticulture\u201d. Based on the spatial and functional analysis of the data provided by the Austrian Wine Marketing Board, as well as field observations carried out in April 2022, the main characteristics of the spatial distribution of vineyards in the urban space, the structure of production, as well as the functions they perform are determined. The conducted research indicates the multifunctionality of viticulture and winemaking in Vienna, which is conducive to its preservation in the city space.
