Analyzing the urban names selected from the official tourist portal of Warsaw in the source language (Polish), and their equivalents in the two target languages (English and Spanish), the author indicates the diversity of translation techniques and considers the possibilities of their unification with regard to specific types of naming, taking into account the functional aspect of the text, the needs of the recipient and the purpose of inter-lingual communication. The translation solutions presented, be it unique or repetitive, are illustrative of the difficulties requiring a systemic approach.
