Romer by\u0142 geografem wszechstronnym, jego badawcza refleksja obejmowa\u0142a kartografi\u0119, geomorfologi\u0119, klimatologi\u0119, hydrografi\u0119, glacjologi\u0119, oceanografi\u0119, jak te\u017c antropogeografi\u0119, demografi\u0119, geopolityk\u0119, geografi\u0119 historyczn\u0105 i regionaln\u0105. Zaproponowa\u0142 \u015bwiatu pierwsze hipsometryczne uj\u0119cie powierzchni ca\u0142ego globu i poj\u0119cie \u201eklimatu polskiego\u201d oraz zarysowa\u0142 fizycznogeograficzn\u0105 argumentacj\u0119 dla legitymizacji istnienia Polski w Europie (w tym \u201eide\u0119 pomostowo\u015bci\u201d) \u2013 m.in. w dokumentacji kartograficznej przed\u0142o\u017conej mocarstwom zachodnim na Kongresie Wersalskim. Zaakcentowa\u0142 konieczno\u015b\u0107 przestrzennego my\u015blenia o organizmach spo\u0142eczno-historycznych. Dalekowzroczno\u015b\u0107 my\u015bli i dzia\u0142a\u0144 Romera zasadza\u0142a si\u0119 na zakotwiczeniu przekona\u0144 o pa\u0144stwach we wzgl\u0119dnie trwa\u0142ej rzeczywisto\u015bci geograficznej zamiast w koniunkturalnej konfiguracji politycznej.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>S\u0142owa kluczowe:<\/strong> Eugeniusz Romer, Polska, Europa, pomostowo\u015b\u0107, geografia, kartografia<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Abstract: <\/strong>The article presents the most eminent Polish geographer of the XXth century \u2013 Eugeniusz Romer \u2013 and his constructive thought about Poland\u2019s place in Europe. As a professor of geography at two universities: the Jan Kazimierz\u2019s in Lviv and at the Jagiellonian in Cracow, he succeeded not only to work as an expert during the Paris Peace Conference (1919\u20131920), but also to initiate the Congress of the International Geographical Union in Warsaw. Romer was a miscellaneous geographer, because his scientific reflection included cartography, geomorphology, climatology, hydrography, glaciology, oceanography, anthropogeography, demography, geopolitics, historical and regional geography. As an extraordinary scholar, Romer proposed the world\u2019s first hypsometric mapping of the entire Earth, the term \u201cPolish climate\u201d, and the physico-geographical arguments for legitimizing the existence of Poland in Europe (i.a. his famous \u201cidea of bridging\u201d). Romer treated both cartography and geography as a field of patriotism understood not in political terms, but rather in the spirit of a thorough recognition of the conditions and dynamics of spatial phenomena and processes.
